Pentax 67 (new camera)

After having a play with the Mamaiya I really loved the 6x7 format and the amazing quality it has but I wasn’t getting along with the rangefinder system so I trawled ebay and settled on a Pentax 67.

This is a biiig camera but it’s also the most similar to a standard SLR that you’ll find in the medium format world of film. After a bit of pain getting the camera shipped to Guernsey I finally got a roll of film in it and this was the results…

Eek! Clearly something was wrong… so I had a look and noticed the shutter curtain wasn’t opening properly at full speeds and that means it needed a bit of TLC and a full service. Luckily the ebay store refunded me the cost of the service and I was able to get a minor upgrade to the camera to be able to squeeze an extra shot onto my rolls so that’s a nice bonus!

After I got it back I couldn’t be happier with the results!

One of the reasons I wanted to play with this format and camera is the ability to do sprocket shots by loading regular 35mm film in the back, you can get some fun results with this framing…

I’ll definitely be using this camera for some future fun shoots so keep your eyes peeled over on my Instagram page and see if you can spot the results.
