When Eloise Fabbri approached me with the idea for her photoshoot, she was looking to bring a bit of 90’s hip-hop grunge to life. Inspired by the bold, wide-angle shots often found in skate magazines, we wanted to create something loud, colourful, and fun, capturing Eloise’s vibrant personality and her hip-hop-infused jazz style.

The shoot took place in a gritty industrial park, where we were surrounded by bright, bold colours that matched Eloise’s bold fashion choices. With her colourful wardrobe and a location full of vibrant backdrops, we were ready to experiment and bring her new look to life.

Creative Vision and Collaboration

The 90’s skate culture inspiration was central to the shoot's vibe. I embraced wide-angle and fisheye perspectives to exaggerate the dynamic energy of the moment. These wide, sweeping shots made the Eloise as the subject appear larger than life, a perfect representation of her playful and powerful personality.

To enhance this vibe, we used a on camera flash lighting. For the most part, I kept the lighting hard, mimicking the raw feel of a skate park shoot, which gave the photos a high-contrast, gritty look. The harsh lighting also made the colours pop, adding an edge to Eloise’s aesthetic.

One of the key contributors to the look was Phoebe Le Tocq, who provided incredible makeup on set, adding another layer of boldness to Eloise’s look. The makeup, combined with Eloise’s expressive energy, helped bring the shoot’s overall vision to life. It was fun to experiment with this new style, and I think we managed to capture some truly memorable shots.

Location & Styling

The industrial park setting was the perfect choice. We found walls covered in peeling paint, vivid signage, and textured metal surfaces that paired well with Eloise’s pink Adidas tracksuit and oversized, bold accessories. We also embraced a few creative moments with her posing playfully on shopping carts, and with some silly hand gestures.

The vibrant environment provided the perfect contrast to Eloise’s dynamic poses, which were a mix of high energy and laid-back attitude. It was important to me that the photos didn’t feel too staged, so we kept the movement natural and spontaneous whether that meant Eloise jumping in front of the camera or striking a more relaxed pose, we wanted the images to reflect her free spirit.

The Final Shots

I’m really pleased with how the images turned out. They capture the essence of Eloise’s personality – fun, bold, and confident – and align with her hip-hop-infused 90’s jazz vibe. It’s always exciting to push my style and experiment with something different, and I think this shoot has been a great success.
