Capturing Kirstin and Liam’s Guenrsey Wedding
Kirstin and Liam’s Guernsey wedding was a day filled with meaningful moments and carefully chosen details, all of which I was fortunate to capture through my lens. The day unfolded naturally, allowing me to focus on the connections between people and the beauty of the surroundings wilst picking out lots of key details.
The Morning: Preparing for the Day
The day began at Les Pitons, where Kirstin and her bridal party were getting ready amidst a backdrop of white flowers. The arrangements, brought to life by Simply Bespoke Florists with some extra florals from a family member, added bursts of color throughout the house, creating an atmosphere that was both lively and intimate. My approach here was to capture the quiet moments—the anticipation in Kirstin’s eyes, the laughter shared among her bridesmaids, and the little details that often pass by unnoticed.
Meanwhile, at the Fermain Valley Hotel, Liam and his groomsmen were preparing for the ceremony. Their efforts to master tie knots with the guidance of YouTube tutorials provided some light-hearted moments, adding a touch of humor to the morning's collection of images.
The Ceremony, A Garden Gathering
The ceremony took place in a shaded part of their garden, where the natural light was soft and diffused, ideal for capturing the emotions of the day. The setting was intimate, with dappled sunlight filtering through the trees, highlighting the connection between Kirstin, Liam, and their guests. The gentle lighting allowed for photographs that felt warm and natural, without the harsh contrasts that direct sunlight often creates. They must have read my blog post about how to make the best of your wedding photos! I also focused on capturing moments with their grandmothers, who were an important part of the day Their presence added depth to the evening’s photos, showcasing the family connections that were central to this celebration.
Post-Ceremony: A Quiet Retreat at Le Guet
After the ceremony, we took a short trip to Le Guet for the couple’s shoot. This location provided a serene backdrop, with its towering trees and open spaces creating a peaceful setting for the photos. Kirstin and Liam were relaxed and at ease, which came through in the images. The surroundings complemented their connection, resulting in shots that felt genuine and fun.
The Reception: Celebrating with Family and Friends
As the day moved into evening, the reception in the marquee by Bonita Events brought everyone together in celebration. The band, Last of the Light Brigade, infused the atmosphere with energy, drawing guests to the dance floor. Kirstin and Liam’s first dance was a key moment brought to life with amazing sunset lighting coming through the side of the tent.
Golden Hour: Capturing the Sunset
Later in the evening, we stepped away from the reception to head to the beach for some golden hour shots. The timing was perfect, with the sun casting a warm, golden glow over the scene. These images captured a calm, reflective moment for Kirstin and Liam, providing a fitting conclusion to the day.
Final Thoughts: A Day in Focus
Kirstin and Liam’s wedding was a carefully planned celebration, filled with moments of genuine connection and thoughtful details. By focusing on the natural flow of the day and the relationships between the couple and their loved ones, I was able to create a visual narrative that reflects the essence of their wedding.
